Self-advocacy is essential for people with intellectual disabilities to have agency and autonomy in their lives. Participants at Inspired have the opportunity to engage in regular advocacy workshops where they can learn about and practice self-advocacy, both as individuals and as a group. Advocacy workshops are delivered using interactive, engaging methods including drama and practicing public speaking. Inspired provides many opportunities for participants to use their self advocacy skills through participant consultations, electing a participant representative to attend Board meetings, and supporting participants to make submissions to local and national consultations.
